The Nile Sculpture Symposium in Cairo is a contemporary art event held in Egypt’s capital along the banks of the River Nile. The symposium brings together local and international sculptors to create and present works in a public, urban context, encouraging artistic exchange and direct engagement with Cairo’s cultural and historical landscape. Focused on contemporary sculptural practices, the event emphasizes dialogue between artists, materials, and site.

One of our artists, Oscar Aguirre, participated in the symposium. Showcasing some of his amazing work while also contributing to the event’s international program.

In addition, Aguirre also took part in the Egypt International Sculpture Symposium held in New Alamein City, a large-scale international sculpture event on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast. This symposium also brought together artists from multiple countries to produce permanent public sculptures for the city, reinforcing Egypt’s growing commitment to contemporary public art.

We want to thank Ostraka Art & Development, a company from sculptor Mohamed Hemida. Oscar Aguirre’s participation in both of these symposiums were possible because of them, so a special thanks to them for acknowledging his work and expanding their international community.

Down below is a picture of some of the sculptures that Oscar Aguirre presented, with their corresponding place:
